Katherine Susannah's Wonderful World

Tunica Trip

In July 2003, I went to Tunica with some girls from the St. Louis area. The trip was a bus tour the wife of one of the girls arranged, and we were en femme from the time we left Sunday morning until we returned late Tuesday Afternoon. I didn’t take any male clothing with me—I would be stuck En Femme should the unimaginable happen. The tour people knew we were cross-dressers, but the other passengers didn’t! However, they knew before we reached Tunica, and not one passenger gave us any problems.

The group was together most of the time, but there were occasions when it was necessary for me to move about alone—such as leaving the room in the mornings, entering and riding the elevator, crossing the lobby and casino and then entering the restaurant where the other girls were. These trips alone in a busy hotel and casino did a lot to increase my confidence.

Getting a wig styled in St. Louis We encountered only one problem. The tour was at one of the casinos where ladies eat lunch free. We had traded our lunch tickets for extra gambling money, and when it became time for lunch, we got in line. When we reached the cashier, she wouldn’t let us eat, because “you aren’t ladies.” The Manager was consulted, and he said it was OK, and to let us in. Afterward, one of the girls went over to thank the manager, and to let him know we had no hard feelings, as we felt the cashier was just doing her job. And indeed she was! The manager told us that another casino had been robbed the previous week by three men wearing dresses! We recommended that the cashier be given a raise for her alertness, and just doing the job she was hired to do.

Sometime while in Tunica, we formed a secret society with secret signs, etc., and named it ‘The Sisterhood of the One-Armed Bandits’ . We even admitted some of the ladies on the bus during the return to St. Louis.
